Photojournalist
I'm Reaz Ahmed Sumon, a Bangladesh-based photojournalist and Senior Staff Photojournalist at Daily Sun. Since beginning my career in 2004, I have spent more than two decades documenting news, features, sports, and the people and events that have shaped Bangladesh and its place in the wider world.
I have covered major national and international stories, from political events and humanitarian crises to social issues, sports, and breaking news. My work is driven by observation, timing, and the responsibility of preserving moments as they happen, with a particular focus on the people behind the headlines.
My photographs have been published internationally by The Guardian, TIME, HuffPost, The Sun, Daily Mail, The Telegraph, The Mirror, and The New York Post. I have also contributed to international photo agencies including Demotix and Citizenside.
My work has received recognition including TIME's 2013: The Year in Global Protest, the Ruposi Bangla Award 2014 presented by the Bangladesh Photojournalist Association and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), and the Meena Media Award First Prize 2019 from UNICEF Bangladesh.
Over more than two decades, I have built an extensive archive documenting Bangladesh through moments of national significance as well as stories of everyday life. My photographs are a record of the people, places, and events I have encountered throughout that journey.
